Medals for Canadian 'genius'
Twelve winners of the Governor General's Medals in Architecture have been announced. The medals are awarded by the Royal Architectural Institution of Canada (RAIC) and the Canada Council for the Arts. A panel of five distinguished international architects recognised the works for their outstanding achievement in recently built projects. Her Excellency the Right Honourable Michaelle Jean, Governor General of Canada stated that this year's twelve recipients "make us appreciate the degree to which Canadian architects have transformed the places where we live, work, share culture and come together into a celebration of beauty and human genius."

The winner is:

Terrence Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research, University of Toronto (Toronto, ON) - architectsAlliance & Behnisch Architekten.
